Make Music Day Salem is an outgrowth of the Fete de la Musique, which originated in France in 1982. Make Music Day is an event for people who love music and the joyous sense of community that music can foster. The event began as a call to musicians in Paris to get out in the streets on June 21 and play their music.  It has since spread and has a large footprint, particularly in Europe and parts of Africa, but also in a handful of cities getting started in the U.S.  We think this is a great way to showcase our city and the many talented and amazing people that make Salem special. Last year we had over 150 musicians and bands perform at 50 venues!

The next Make Music Day Salem celebration is set for Friday, June 21, 2024. It is held at numerous locations in Salem every June 21 (the summer solstice). Make Music Day Salem is a call to participation: Music by the People, For the People. It is an invitation to all musicians, amateur as well as professional, to sign up to play at one of the available venues and, after practicing up for the big event, to perform on June 21.  And it is an invitation to music-lovers to show up at the venues and enjoy the musical offerings. Make Music Day Salem is a celebration of music of all genres played by and enjoyed by people of all stripes.  We will be joining over 1000 cities around the world to celebrate Make Music Day – so help us make this day unforgettable as we kick off summer with music for all to enjoy!

The show may feature flashing and strobe lights; if you have photosensitivity needs please let us know and we can adjust our lighting techniques for the show.

No harassment or heckling will be tolerated. For comedy shows, this includes talking during the show unless specifically prompted by the performer. Speaking in the audience carries in the showroom and disrupts other guests, and it can be picked up on recordings we provide comedians. If you disrupt the show by talking when not specifically prompted by the performer, you will be politely asked to refrain from talking. If the disruptions persist, you may be asked to leave. Laughter, cheering and applause are all welcome and encouraged when appropriate!

No weapons or firearms are allowed in the venue.

Online ticket sales end 60 minutes before the show starts. If there are still tickets available after doors open, you may purchase them at the door. If you would like to be added to the wait list, please email [email protected].

Please arrive early for the show; unclaimed tickets will be released 20 minutes after showtime (applicable to comedy and other seated shows only).

No outside food or drink allowed. Valid ID required for alcohol purchases and 21+ shows.
